Complete Product Catalog Breakdown
San Diego Pallet maintains the largest pallet inventory in Southern California. Our warehouse stocks over 50,000 pallets at any given time across all grades, sizes, and materials — ensuring same-day or next-day availability for most orders.
Used Wood Pallets
Our used pallet program processes over 15,000 pallets per week through our inspection facility. Each pallet is sorted into Grade A, B, or C based on a 12-point structural integrity assessment. Used pallets save you 40-60% compared to new and carry the same load capacity when properly graded. Available in all standard GMA sizes (48x40, 42x42, 48x48, 40x40) and dozens of specialty configurations.
New Wood Pallets
When your application demands virgin lumber — food-grade environments, export compliance, or brand presentation — our new pallets are manufactured from kiln-dried Southern Yellow Pine and mixed hardwoods. Every new pallet ships with ISPM 15 heat-treatment certification and carries a full structural warranty. Standard lead time is 3-5 business days; rush orders available within 24 hours for stock sizes.
Custom & Specialty Pallets
Our custom fabrication shop handles non-standard dimensions from 24x24 up to 72x120, notched stringers for automated conveyor systems, reversible decks for double-sided use, wing pallets for overhang loads, and flush pallets for tight-fit containers. We also offer branded pallets with your company logo heat-stamped or painted directly onto the deck surface for retail display and trade show applications.
- Non-standard dimensions (any size)
- Notched / flush / wing configurations
- Block or stringer construction
- Custom branding & paint
- Heat-treatment & export certifications
Accessories & Supplies
Complete your pallet operation with our full range of accessories. Pallet collars convert flat pallets into reusable shipping boxes — stackable up to 6 layers high. Slip sheets provide layer separation for $0.30-$0.80 each. Stretch wrap in hand-grade (70-gauge) and machine-grade (80-gauge) rolls. Polypropylene and polyester banding for heavy loads. Corner boards to prevent strap crush damage.
- Pallet collars (wood, 3 standard sizes)
- Slip sheets (fiberboard & plastic)
- Stretch wrap (hand & machine grade)
- Plastic banding (PP & PET)
- Corner boards & edge protectors
- Anti-slip mats & pads
How to Choose the Right Pallet
Selecting the wrong pallet costs money through product damage, warehouse inefficiency, and compliance failures. Use this guide to match your application to the right product.
Determine Your Load Requirements
Start with your heaviest expected load. Standard GMA pallets handle 2,500 lbs in dynamic load (while being moved) and 2,800 lbs in static load (stacked in storage). If your load exceeds 2,500 lbs, you need a heavy-duty block pallet rated for 4,800+ lbs. For racking applications, verify the racking capacity separately — it's typically 60-70% of the static rating.
- Light loads (< 1,500 lbs): Grade B or C used
- Standard loads (1,500–2,500 lbs): Grade A used or new standard
- Heavy loads (2,500–5,000 lbs): New heavy-duty block
- Extreme loads (5,000+ lbs): Custom reinforced build
Check Compliance & Certifications
International shipments require ISPM 15 certified pallets with a visible IPPC/HT stamp — no exceptions. Food and pharmaceutical operations may require new pallets or FDA-compliant plastic pallets. USDA-regulated facilities need heat-treated wood with documented chain of custody. Retail partners like Walmart, Costco, and Amazon have specific pallet specs — ask us and we'll confirm compliance.
- Domestic shipping: Any grade, no certification needed
- International export: ISPM 15 / HT stamp required
- Food & pharma: New wood or FDA-grade plastic
- Retail compliance: Varies by retailer (we know them all)
Balance Cost Against Lifecycle
A $2 Grade C pallet used once for a one-way shipment costs less per-trip than a $12 Grade A used 4 times ($3/trip). But if you need racking capability, the Grade C fails immediately. Calculate your true cost-per-trip: divide pallet cost by expected number of uses. For closed-loop systems with pallet return, invest in Grade A or new. For one-way outbound, Grade B or C maximizes ROI.
- One-way shipment: Grade B or C (lowest cost)
- 2–4 trip cycle: Grade A used (best value)
- 5–10 trip cycle: New standard wood
- Closed-loop / permanent: Plastic or heavy-duty block

Our 12-Point Inspection Process
Every pallet that enters our facility goes through a rigorous inspection before it earns a grade and reaches your dock. Here is exactly what we check — and why it matters.
Deck Board Integrity
Each top and bottom deck board is checked for splits, cracks, and rot. Boards with splits longer than 6 inches or width-through cracks are flagged for repair or rejection.
Stringer / Block Condition
Stringers are inspected for notch damage, compression failure, and broken ends. Block pallets are checked for loose or missing blocks. Any stringer with more than 25% damage is replaced.
Nail & Fastener Audit
Protruding nails are hammered flush or removed. Missing fasteners are replaced with ring-shank nails for superior holding power. Loose boards are re-secured.
Dimensional Accuracy
Length, width, and height are measured against standard tolerances (plus or minus 1/4 inch for GMA spec). Out-of-spec pallets are routed to custom inventory or recycling.
Fork Entry Clearance
Fork entry openings are verified at 3.5 inches minimum for standard pallet jacks. Notched stringers are checked for proper clearance geometry.
Load-Bearing Test
Random samples from each batch undergo static load testing at 110% of rated capacity. Pallets that deflect more than 1/4 inch are downgraded.
Moisture Content
Pin-type moisture meters verify content below 19% for standard applications and below 12% for heat-treated export pallets. Excessive moisture causes mold and weakens joints.
Contamination Check
Pallets are inspected for chemical stains, oil contamination, odors, and pest evidence. Any pallet with visible contamination is rejected from food-grade and pharmaceutical inventory.
Board Spacing
Deck board spacing is verified at 2.5-inch maximum for standard configurations. Consistent spacing prevents product damage and ensures compatibility with automated systems.
Chamfer & Edge Quality
Lead board edges are checked for excessive splintering or damage that could catch on conveyor systems or damage shrink wrap during automated handling.
Weight Verification
Each pallet is weighed to verify it falls within the expected range for its size and construction type. Abnormally light pallets may indicate hidden structural compromise.
Grade Assignment
Based on the cumulative score from checks 1-11, each pallet receives a Grade A, B, or C designation. Pallets failing minimum standards are recycled into raw lumber.
